Australia's Biggest Morning Tea
The Cancer Council aims to raise more than $1.3 million through Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, to enable cancer research, education and support services benefiting cancer patients now and generations to come. “Raising funds is more important than ever to ensure survival rates continue to improve – 60% of Victorians now survive a cancer diagnosis compared to only 25%, sixty years ago.”
Chocolate Money is excited to be hosting an "Australian Biggest Morning Tea" to help cancer patients and their families. We would be delighted if you could join us in our event.
WHEN : 10am on Thursday 24 May 2007
WHERE: Board Room at Chocolate Money at 383 Clarendon Street South Melbourne
WHAT: All the tea/coffee and cake you can drink/eat for $5 entry charge
WHAT ELSE: raffles and give aways for generous donations!
WHY: To help reduce the impact of cancer in our communities and, of course, enjoy a fun social occasion together!
In 2005 so many people took part in the event that it now holds the Guinness Book of Records for the largest simultaneous tea party.
The Cancer Council hopes to raise over $8million from the event this year. The funds will go towards:
Research -in to the causes of cancer and into new and improved treatments
Clinical trials which test new and better ways to prevent diagnose and treat cancer
Health Education campaigns
Advocacy - lobbying Government for the rights and interests of the community
Support Services such as the Cancer Council Help line (a service that each year helps cancer patients and their families and carers. Last year over 130,000 calls were received; and Cancer Connect - a service that puts cancer patients in touch with survivors trained to provide emotional and social support.
The largest percentage of funds raised go towards cancer research. In 2006 the Cancer Council committed over $32million towards research projects.
Cancer does not discriminate and most people are affected by cancer throughout their lives.
We hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
The Chocolate Money Team
